Senior School entry

Senior School Entry

Our successful entry to the very best senior schools – both day and boarding – testifies to the fact that our pupils are very capable and such schools will only enhance their academic potential and offer them wide-ranging extra-curricular  opportunities.

Durston has always prepared boys for entry to some of the best independent senior schools in the country. Whilst being a feeder to London day schools, such as St Paul’s, Westminster, Merchant Taylors’, The John Lyon and St Benedict’s, we continue to gain entry for boys to boarding schools, for instance Eton, Harrow and Charterhouse, if that style of education is sought.

Parents are asked to consider the sort of senior school they would like for their son. Parents are advised by Durston House to research, visit and explore a range of schools, to get a feel for the sort of education individual schools offer. Meetings with the Headmaster, from Year 4 onwards, offer advice about the schools parents are considering and the likelihood of a place being offered to their son. The Headmaster takes into account the academic and personal development when assessing a suitable match of a boy to a school.

It is common for former Durston pupils to visit us at Final Assembly. They like to meet their old friends, their former teachers and take a nostalgic tour of the school. These fine young men invariably regale us with happy stories of Senior School life and the triumphs they have achieved there. Some return from their studies at university to relive Durston memories, and to let us know of their degree successes, before embarking on the next stage of their lives. We, at Durston House, are justifiably proud of the boys who have passed through our care and rejoice that they have made the most of the opportunities life has given them.
