Mr N I Kendrick

Ian Kendrick taught in a Nottingham comprehensive school before his first teaching appointment at a preparatory school in 1979. He was Head of English at Cabin Hill (Campbell College Preparatory School, Belfast) and Dulwich College Preparatory School, before returning to the former school as Headmaster in 1996. He joined Durston House as Headmaster in January 2005. Married, with three grown-up children, Ian lists his other interests as the jazz guitar and the theatre. He reads avidly, including The Great Gatsby on an annual basis, to remind himself of the power of prose writing at its elegant best.
Mr W J Murphy

William Murphy joined Durston House, as Deputy Head in May 2000, having previously worked as an English teacher in other London prep schools. Born and educated in New Zealand, he lived and worked in Asia before coming to the UK. William has a love of all things Spanish, and spends as much time as possible there, brushing up on his communication skills, enjoying the sea air and sampling its culinary delights. He is a keen theatre-goer, lists A Confederacy of Dunces as his favourite book and, being a Kiwi, has rugby in his veins.
Mrs J Twyford
Jenny was recruited as Bursar at Durston House in January 2005, having previously been the Bursar at a Prep School and an Adult Education College. Born in South Africa but brought up and educated in Ealing, she has run her own business and worked as a Finance Executive in the industrial chemical manufacturing industry. Jenny has two children and five grandchildren; is a keen tennis player, having played competitively in the Middlesex League, and continues to play regularly.

Neeru Sharma joined Durston House in September 2010 from St Mary’s and St John’s Primary School in North London where she held the position of Assistant Head Teacher. Whilst at Durston House, Neeru has carried out a variety of roles including the post of Studies Manager and Director of Studies.
Neeru is married with a young daughter. She enjoys spending time with her family, practising yoga and experimenting in the kitchen. Neeru also has a particular soft spot for Bollywood cinema.
Mrs C Green

Head of Complementary Curriculum
Ealing born and bred, Clare Green returned to her roots after boarding at Taunton School and studying to be a teacher at St Mary’s, Twickenham. She joined the staff of Durston in 1999, initially as a Year 3 class teacher. Her focus, now, is heading the History Department, as well as managing the co-curricular life of the school, as a member of the management team. Clare has combined all this with being a Durston mother. Family life is her joy. Travelling with her husband and children, both within the UK and abroad, keeps her holidays busy; she is proud to have visited all the National Parks in the British Isles. When not baking or doing the ‘karate run’, Clare likes to escape to the world of the theatre.

Director of Studies
Dominic grew up in leafy Kent. He moved to London for his degree in Physical and Sport Education, at St Mary’s University, Twickenham. Starting Durston in 2011, he has held positions in Junior School, Middle and Upper School, mixing class teaching, History and PE/Games, before joining the Senior Management Team, as Director of Studies, in September 2018. Always a keen sportsman, Dominic enjoys playing both codes of rugby, having represented Harlequins Rugby League and now playing on the wing for Twickenham Rugby Football Club.

Philippa Orr completed a Bachelor of Education in Australia and has worked in various educational settings from early childhood to special education. Eager to travel and experience new horizons, she moved to London in 2016 and joined Durston House in 2017 as a Year 4 Form Tutor and has held a variety of roles in Middle and Upper School.
Originally from Melbourne, Philippa can’t help but have a keen love of food and coffee, and enjoys exploring London’s Gastronomic scene. When not eating or cooking, Philippa spends her time in London’s parks and looks forward to yoga classes, theatre and travelling abroad.
