Durston has always had a reputation for academic prowess. The
boys' achievements in past few years, in terms of scholarships won,
have excelled even the vintage years between the First and Second
World Wars and in the 1950s and 60s.
In the past two decades, developing this academic tradition, we
have aimed to make lessons part of an all-round school experience
that prepares our pupils for the challenges of living, not merely
for exams.
In fact we believe that making school life so much more exciting
and varied is one of the keys to our academic success.
Other keys:
* our systematic support for those with learning difficulties
* our recognition that whilst potential may be inherited (or not)
intelligence needs to be taught and learnt.
