Entry proceedure Durston House Tuition Fees
Parents interested in Durston House should register their son. It is best to do this promptly as we take order of registration into account when offering places.

The stated fees include tuition (and include individual learning support tuition where we consider it appropriate), stationery, books and all compulsory school activities. They do not include lunch (all boys bring packed lunches), optional trips or individual music lessons. Other optional extras include after school care and insurances.

The Governors try to give a full term's notice of any increase in the fees, but this may not necessarily always be possible. The tuition fees are payable by termly direct debit, or by monthly direct debit with the first payment for the academic year payable in July.

Boys registered to join Reception
We do not formally assess boys of this age as we do not believe it is possible to predict the academic future of boys who are so young, some of whom would be only three years old when we would be meeting them. In the Autumn Term we ask parents of boys registered to join Reception the following September to confirm that their son will be taking up a place by paying the Acceptance Fee of £1600, discounted by 25% (£1200) if acceptance is made in writing within 28 days. For mutual reassurance, and to help us plan balanced classes, we arrange an informal assessment during the Summer Term.

We encourage parents of boys registered for Reception to bring their sons to school prior to entry to experience a 'taster' afternoon. Also for parents of future Reception pupils there is an opportunity to meet together for an evening with staff, the Headmaster and his wife at the Headmaster's house, which is close to the Pre-Prep in Castlebar Road.

For older boys an assessment takes place a few months before joining. The purpose of the assessment is to make sure that the boys who join are likely to thrive in a mixed-ability school with unusually high academic standards. The Assessment Fee, payable in advance and non-returnable, is currently £50.

On acceptance of a place, an Acceptance Fee of £1600 is payable, which is discounted by 25% (£1200) if the acceptance is made in writing within 14 days. As a safeguard, the school retains the Acceptance Fee for the duration of the pupil's education at Durston House, and it is repaid when the final account is settled.
