Preparation
for life

Education is not just about results and league tables, but about acquiring skills and knowledge, attitudes and abilities that can be carried into adult life. It is not an isolated process, kept separate from home and family life, but a joint venture involving parent, pupils, and teachers.

At Durston House we know we have a great track record in preparing boys to enter the senior school of their choice. But we also recognise our wider responsibility as the first important step in preparing young men for life.

Our goal is to develop each boy to his full potential, from his first tentative days in Reception to the camaraderie of his senior years.

Durston House Making each day count
A good education is surely part of the best start in life for any child. We work with parents to create a happy school experience in which boys want to develop into worthy young men. We know that happiness cannot be taught - it is achieved by encouraging confidence, involvement, responsibility and consideration. Day by day we take pride in sending a class full of pupils home happy, ready to share their new knowledge with friends and family - and return the next day with the same excitement to learn more. At the same time, we are ensuring that our pupils learn to look at a world bigger than school, involving them in community life and events.

Preparing citizens for life
We focus on developing self-confidence and inner belief in every boy. These qualities give them the greatest ability to seize opportunity when it arises, to solve problems, and to strive for the success they deserve in life.
